Montréal, Wednesday June 15, 2016 – From July 16 to 30, the public is invited to come and have laugh in the Quartier des spectacles! On offer are outdoor shows by hilarious comics, internationally renowned artists, major street performance companies and groups of people having fun! There will be fifteen days of outdoor festivities, a hundred different shows, 400 free performances and more than 1,700 artists, including the highly anticipated The Jacksons, who will offer a free performance on the Scène Vidéotron July 20; and Sugar Sammy who will be ending the incredible tour of his show You’re gonna rire! A wild schedule of shows, flamboyant artists, the JumOlympiques athletic parade; in short, crazy fun awaits festival attendees at the 34th edition of The Festival Just for Laughs outdoor program presented by Vidéotron in association with Loto-Québec!



Every evening, from July 16 to 30 starting at 9 pm, a great new show will be presented free of charge to festival attendees on the Scène Vidéotron in the Place des Festivals. On offer will be humour, legends, imitations and fireworks: something the whole family will enjoy!

Not-to-be missed events!
Mike Ward will get it all started on July 16 with Mike Ward dans rue; a show that is as bold as it is authentic and hilarious!

Music will be front and centre on July 17 at the Le show 100% inimitable hosted by Joël Legendre and Véronique Claveau! Steeve Diamond,Jean-François Breau, Geneviève Côté, Martin Proulx and Greg Tudeski will join the hosts to deliver some 75 of their best imitations including Céline Dion and Shakira, not to forget Elton John.

On July 19, the extravagant Mado Lamothe will be back for the third edition of her highly anticipated, wacky cabaret Mado’s got Talent, staged by Pierre Poirier. On Wednesday July 20, the legendary Motown group The Jacksons will set the Place des Festivals on fire singing their hits I Want You Back, I’ll be There and ABC and dancing like only they know how!

Major get-togethers!
July 21 will be the opportunity for music lovers to get together on the Place des Festivals! The entire site will be transformed into a Jardin des chorales where spectators can walk among dozens of choirs who will be singing rich and varied repertoires. Then in the evening, festival attendees should dress in black and white for the Bal en N&B! Hundreds of dancers will move to rhythms inspired by the burlesque imagery of silent film. This celebration of dance is staged by Ghislain Turcotte.

Festival attendees will be thrilled during the July 22 to 24 weekend when the German company Titanick will literally ignite the Quartier des spectacles with the incredible show Firebirds! The breathtaking show features crazy pilots in a race that will take place all over the Place des Festivals! The French music group SNOB will accompany their frantic trajectory with trumpets and other instruments! Will the pilots be able to take off? Definitely a race to be watched and definitely not to be missed!

Sugar Sammy ends his tour at Just for Laughs!
Thursday July 28, at 7 pm, is the qualifying evening for the amazing dancers in the international breakdance competition JPR battle JFL to be followed by the main event: Sugar Sammy with You’re Gonna rire! This will be the very last performance of the legendary bilingual show written specifically for Montréal that brings together Anglophones and Francophones. The event will close a 420-date tour that saw ticket sales of 372,000.

The very first Juste pour Ados!
The very last evening of the festival will feature a very first! On Saturday July 30, the very first Gala Juste pour Ados will take place, beginning at 4 pm!Most of all, the Gala Juste pour Ado, is an explosive show hosted by Pascal Morrissette who will present surprising challenges and crazy performances true to the personalities of the main guests who include Travis Cormier, Pier-Luc Funk, Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse, Phil Roy andVanessa Pilon. Later during the last evening of the festivities, the Boogie Wonder Band will celebrate its 20th anniversary during an extraordinary celebration that will bring back the wild years of disco!

Everywhere on the Place des Festivals, special installations enhance the experience of Just for Laughs festival attendees! There is something for everyone to enjoy, including art lovers, children and party animals!

Place de la famille le Lait
During the festival period, La Place de la famille le Lait will open its doors at 1 pm and offer even more rides, activities and fun workshops! A group of madcap characters will lead families into their surreal world and invite them to a enjoy variety of shows until 9 pm! Delicious frozen yogurt will be offered on site to enjoy! Yummy! As well, Victor will invite the whole family to his very own resort, the Playa del Victor! Old and young alike will be able to have fun in this all-inclusive paradise! Water games, rides, pirate ships and mechanical surfing are on offer for the pleasure of festival attendees! Not to be missed on the Scène Vidéotron July 24: Le Lait Les petites tounes concert where songs from the most recent album of the group Les 4 saisons will be performed.

The Rockstar Melting Pot Block Party
This summer, the third edition of the Rockstar Melting Pot Block Party will be hotter then ever and will have the Quartier des spectacles dancing until the wee hours of the morning! From July 16 to 30, the Esplanade de la Place des Arts will offer an eclectic range of entertainment, with a host of DJs, groups and comics from both here and abroad! Not to be missed-Mike Ward’s after party (July 16); Sugar Sammy’s end of Quebec tour party with the group The Brooks and DJ Yo-C (July 28); the special event featuring the legendary The Jacksons and the Montreal DJ Jojo-Flores who will keep the party going until dawn (July 20)! The complete two-week schedule of the Rockstar Melting Pot Block Party will be announced shortly and promises to offer the funkiest nights of the summer, which you can follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! Once again this year, the grand visual arts contest will take place and offer the work of some forty international artists. The theme of the pieces will be « Satire » and they will be exhibited in the containers installed on Ste-Catherine, in front of L’Astral.
